GENERAL FAQ
Company offices are in Reno, Nevada.
ESPs are proudly built in the USA.
ESP has been providing shooters with state-of-the-art electronic hearing protection for shooting since 1994.
ESPs can be used for any short duration/intermittent loud noise activities
Yes you can! We can custom tune ESP’s to your unique hearing profile.
Yes! All ESP models have an IP57 rating.
ESPs are built to protect the microphone from direct wind contact, reducing wind noise. If you are looking for the ultimate in wind noise suppression, the Apex model is for you.
With proper care, your ESPs can last 10 years or more.
All ESP models come with a one year limited warranty. This standard warranty covers electronic malfunction, defects and fit issues. It does not cover loss or physical damage. For complete warranty terms, click here.
If your ESPs are under warranty, we will remake them at no charge.
Yes, however, children will rapidly outgrow the custom fit requiring a remolding/rebuilding.
We offer repair services on all devices up to 10 years of ownership. Check out the Service tab for more info
Yes, but it’s not generally encouraged. If you have use of both ears, wearing only one plug can interfere with your natural sense of directionality and spatial awareness.
However, if you're replacing a lost, broken, or older device, ordering a single plug is completely fine. At the time of ordering, simply select the specific side (left or right) you need.
To keep your ESPs clean and free from earwax, use the tool provided. You can also gently wipe them down after use with alcohol.
BATTERY FAQ
99% of ESP uses size 13 ‘hearing aid’ batteries (typically found in orange packaging, on or near a counter at your local pharmacy).
Zinc Air hearing aid batteries use air as an energy source, and the tab seals the air holes on the battery. Once the tab is removed, it takes approximately two minutes before the battery is activated/charged. At that point, the battery compartment can be closed. If not the battery can in the worst case be damaged and will not come back to normal voltage level needed!
If your ESP product does not work properly after replacing with a new battery, wait two minutes after removing the tab before use. If this does not help, please contact ESP.
All batteries should be removed from the device after each use. If left inside, the batteries can be affected by humidity, which may alter their chemistry and lead to swelling—especially in extreme conditions like tropical environments. To avoid damage, always remove batteries promptly from your devices
Our batteries have a minimum “shelf-life” of two years. However, this estimate cannot be guaranteed if the batteries were previously stored incorrectly.
Optimal room storage temperature for storing batteries is between 10 and 25°C. Heat may shorten the running time and a humid environment is not suitable for storage. Finally, avoid storing batteries in the refrigerator.
The standard sizes of hearing device batteries are 13, 312, and 10. They are color-coded for easy identification:
- Size 13: orange
- Size 312: brown
- Size 10: yellow
Please make sure you protect the battery air holes from moisture. Switching off your hearing aid when not in use will also prolong the life of the battery. If the battery should get wet due to sweating or other, dry it!
Batteries are activated when the pull tab is removed. Battery life depends on the hours of use per day and amplification levels. ESP users average approximately 200 hours (4-6 weeks of use).
Zinc Air button cell batteries are classified as non-hazardous waste. However it is recommended to bring the batteries to the common local collecting points for batteries to make sure they can be recycled.
There could be several reasons for this issue. Please check the following:
⦁ Insufficient activation time: After removing the battery tab, wait at least 2 minutes before inserting it.
⦁ Dented battery surface: Can cause poor contact with the hearing aid terminals.
⦁ Dead battery: Rare, but possible—even with new batteries, especially if not properly activated.
⦁ Dirty battery terminals: Built-up debris can interfere with contact. Clean gently if needed.
⦁ Why does my battery suddenly last a shorter time? Change to:
In most cases, short battery life is not due to a manufacturing defect, but rather:
⦁ Environmental factors like humidity or extreme temperatures
⦁ Changes in usage habits, such as longer daily use or louder environments
⦁ Insufficient activation time — wait at least 2 minutes after removing the tab before inserting the battery
⦁ Device is left on overnight or during long periods of non-use
⦁ Battery short-circuited by contact with metal objects (e.g. keys or coins)
⦁ Improper storage
Statistics show that, in most of the cases, the reasons for a short running time are not necessarily production faults, but rather:
- Environmental influences (e.g. humidity, temperature).
- Personal hearing habits have changed (longer period of use per day, higher noise level).
- The battery tab is removed and activation period as too short!! It has to be 2 Min or more! before it is inserted into the hearing aid.
- The hearing aid is not switched off over night or after a long period of non-use.
- The battery loses capacity due to a short circuit when mishandled (e.g. through contact with metal objects).
- The battery is stored in a warm environment (e.g. in parked car in the sun).

RETURNING CUSTOMER FAQ
Yes — if you’ve purchased from ESP before, you're eligible for 20% off your next set, including single-ear replacements.
There are two easy options:
- Send in your current ESPs — we can duplicate the fit from your existing devices.
- Send in ear impressions — either your original set (if you still have them) or new impressions from an audiologist.
Note: We do not store impressions on file — they’re returned to you with your original order.
Only if you don’t have your original impressions and you're not sending in your current ESPs. If your devices still fit well, we can duplicate that fit without new impressions.
Absolutely. You can reorder just your left or right device — and we can duplicate the fit from your existing ESP if you send it in. The 20% discount still applies.
No — the 20% discount is exclusively for new ESP devices. Accessories, add-ons, and shipping fees are not included in the discount.
Yes. If you’d like your ESPs tuned to your current hearing needs, include a recent audiogram with your impressions or your reorder request.
You'll receive detailed shipping instructions after placing your order. We accept physical ear impressions, digital ear scans, or your current ESPs to duplicate fit.
No — the returning customer discount is only valid for the original ESP customer. It’s not transferable.
If you’re unsure about using old impressions, we recommend one of two options:
